I received a post-card from New York today, probably about as far as you can get away from Australia. Guess how much it cost to post: 36¢ U.S. At an exchange rate of US83¢ to $A1, that comes to 43¢ Australian -- exactly the same amount Australia Post charges to convey a note from one suburb to the next.
