It was that the 1929 Disney animation, &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0020414\/\">The Skeleton Dance<\/a>&#8216;, was banned in, of all places, Sweden. Clicking on the provided <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/List?certificates=Sweden:(Banned)&amp;&amp;heading=14;Sweden:(Banned)\">link<\/a>, I discovered a whole bunch of startling bannings in Sweden (there are 229 in total, according to IMDB):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0074437\/\"><em>Drum<\/em> (1976)<\/a>, an arguably offensive sexploitation movie;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0049414\/\"><em>A Kiss Before Dying<\/em> (1956)<\/a>, an excellent thriller starring Robert Wagner and Joanne Woodward, based on the novel by Ira Levin (later known for <em>Rosemary&#8217;s Baby<\/em> and <em>The Boys from Brazil<\/em>, <em>The Stepford Wives<\/em> and, one my favourites, <em>This Perfect Day<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0079501\/\"><em>Mad Max<\/em> (1979)<\/a>, the famous Aussie flick that made Mel Gibson;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0070355\/\"><em>Magnum Force<\/em> (1973)<\/a>, a sequel to <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0066999\/\">Dirty Harry<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0025452\/\"><em>The Man Who Knew Too Much<\/em> (1934)<\/a>, Hitchcock&#8217;s original version; and<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0022286\/\"><em>The Public Enemy<\/em> (1931)<\/a>, a very important James Cagney movie.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Incredible!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was perusing, as I so often do, the Internet Movie Database when I stumbled upon something quite surprising.
