A couple of years ago I called<\/a> for the release of some of the 3D movies released during the format’s brief spurt of popularity in the early 1950s. One of the last movies made in 3D at the time was Hitchcock’s excellent Dial M for Murder<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

But it was little seen, if at all, in 3D due to waning interest in the format.<\/p>\n

Now Sony Universal has just announced that in October it will be releasing a 14 movie collection from Hitchcock on Blu-ray. These include Psycho<\/a><\/em> — the only one previously released on Blu-ray — plus Vertigo<\/em>, Rear Window<\/em>, Rope<\/em>, The Man Who Know Too Much<\/em>, The Birds<\/em> and a whole lot more. Not included is Dial M<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Well, it turns out<\/a> that Warner Bros will be releasing Dial M for Murder<\/em> in a twin pack, with a Blu-ray version and a Blu-ray 3D version. Also in October. (It’s also releasing the wonderful Strangers on a Train<\/em> at the same time on regular Blu-ray.)<\/p>\n

The article says that the original House of Wax<\/em>, the first 3D colour feature film from Hollywood, is also in preparation for 3D release.<\/p>\n

I’m seeking information from Warner Bros Australia about the releases here and will add this information when it becomes available. But things are definitely looking good for Hitchcock fans at the moment. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
